And the brand also includes designs for women, men, girls, and boys. The company mascot – a mischievous-looking Buddha figure playing an acoustic guitar – sums up the True Religion outlook: a fusion of East meets West, old meets new, part tradition and always contemporary. But if True Religion has a defining aesthetic, it’s also is versatile. Its perfume, for example, comes in a frosted glass bottle, embellished with silver metal filigree enclosing a glass jewel at its center. It’s somehow Victorian chic, up-market hippy chic, with just a hint of the East – and the result is a cool elegance. Then there’s the bold pink, nappa leather purse with large metal peace sign embossed with the True Religion logo. The Parka jacket is also redefined in the True Religion brand: close fitting, 700 fill down insulated nylon, with pockets, zippers, and stitching creating it an almost ‘biker’ look. According to its website, True Religion is defined by “commitment to perfect fit, timeless style and that hippie bohemian chic flare.” Lubell’s early vision was “to make quality, American-made, authentic, timeless, great fitting, 1970’s inspired jeans wear, with a trendsetting appeal for today’s consumer,” and that carries through to True Religion jeans today. Jeans are still one of the company’s most important products, and come in Bootcut, flare, skinny, straight or wide leg. The range of True Religion jeans also means that you’ll find plenty of finishes, including washes, sandblasting, and carefully placed abrasions (especially on one knee), as well as pristine dark denim. Pocket designs range from a leather, button-down flap to a simple open pocket, embroidered with the company horseshow logo in thick, white thread. For men, True Religion produces baggier, more rugged looking jeans. A range of printed T-shirts, with a decidedly 60s feel, are also available, such as the jersey T-shirt printed and stitched with “Death Valley” landscape, death’s head, and sunburst in white. Another T-shirt design is of a quirky, cartoon-like skull and crossbones, printed with “Uranium City Pi-Rats”. The company’s clothing for girls is also lots of fun, with jeans, Western-style shirts, and plenty of T-shirts printed with cool designs in unexpected colors, such as the salmon T-shirt printed with the company name and an image of a wave in turquoise, blue, and orange. A long sleeved “Psychodelic Western” shirt in poplin, is printed with a Pucci-style design of scrolls and bubble flowers. And the girls’ “Stardust” T-shirt is printed with the True Religion name in large, surrounded by circles, stars, and scrolls. The company describes this, as well as many of its other T-shirts, as “Washed to perfection to give it the vintage feel.” For information on other fashion labels - visit www.Startingaclothingline.com
